Genmai tea is a type of Japanese green tea characterized by the addition of roasted brown rice (known as genmai in Japanese) into green tea leaves during brewing. Therefore, genmaicha carries the aroma of green tea along with the distinctive fragrance of roasted brown rice.
Brewing Instructions
Recommended brewing time: Brew for 15 minutes
Recommended brewing temperature: 100°C
Recommended brewing ratio: 1 : 80 (tea leaves in grams : water in milliliters)
Creative Usage
Genmai Tea
- Add one genmai tea bag to a shaker cup with 200cc of hot water and steep for 15 minutes.
- Stir in 30cc of fructose until well mixed.
- Add ice until the cup is full, shake, and serve.
Genmai Milk Tea
- Add one genmai tea bag to a shaker cup with 200cc of hot water and steep for 15 minutes.
- Stir in 100cc of fresh milk until well mixed.
- Add ice until the cup is full, shake, and serve.
